B. John D'Auria Welcome... Thanks for visiting my home page. This photo was taken a few years ago, so just add a distinguishing dash of white at the temples and it'll be current. So what does the "B." at the beginning of my name stand for? Well, my father's Sicilian family wanted to name me after his father - "Santo" - but my mother's Southern Italian/Irish family wouldn't have it (thank goodness). So they compromised with the Scottish name "Bruce". I, however, stopped using it many years ago when I was teaching English and realized "John" was easier for speakers of foreign languages. And now, an introduction...

Professional... Here's a short career synopsis, starting with the present:
(Pop Quiz: Am I a people-person with technical skills, or a techie-nerd with people skills? Answer: Yes.) I have a B.A. and M.Ed. from S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo, and an M.B.A. (in Management Information Systems) from Florida International University. My Spanish and Italian are rusty but intelligible.

Personal... I was born (1952) and raised in Buffalo, NY (which doesn't deserve the bad publicity it gets). From 1970 to 1985 I lived, studied and worked in Ohio, Italy, Panama, New York City and New Jersey. In 1985 I moved to Miami, where I have lived ever since. Miami has treated me well, but don't spread that around because we already have too many people here.

My mother (a.k.a. "Ma",
on the right) lives in Buffalo; my older sister (center) recently passed away; and my
younger sister (top) is Marketing Director for a prestigious hotel in Wash., D.C. Also in
the picture is a close friend of the family (left), and the younger sister's daughter
(being held). All three siblings started out in theatrical arts, and then progressed to education and business. I have family in Miami, but my extended family is still based in Buffalo. Every year we gather there for a family reunion; this year we were about 90 people. If you'd like to see what the clan looks like, visit the site I set up for The Lucchino Family. To contact me, here's my e-mail: johndauria@worldnet.att.net.
